Admission Checklist for Applicants


CHECKLIST FOR APPLYING TO THE
M.A. PROGRAM IN THEATRE
WITH A CONCENTRATION IN THEATRE EDUCATION/
THEATRE FOR YOUTH

____ 1. Call or email the Graduate Coordinator, Michelle Ebert Freire. Say hello. Ask any initial questions you have about the program and inform her of your intent to apply. (909)537-7451


___2. Apply for admission to the University (you must do this even if you are currently a CSUSB undergraduate). You can apply online. Be sure to specify our program on your application. You will be required to provide the Admissions Office with transcripts from all institutions of higher education you have attended. Please emake COPIES of your transcripts for the Theatre MA Graduate Coordinator as soon as you can as this information will be the basis of our initial advising process.


___3. Select three individuals capable of commenting upon your aptitude for graduate study. Ask those individuals to supply letters of recommendation. Download this form to include with your request. Collect the letters from the individuals in sealed, signed envelopes, and submit them with the materials in #4 below. They may also send them directly to the graduate coordinator.


___4. Submit to the Graduate Coordinator (NOT to the CSUSB Admissions Office) the following materials by May 30, 2008:

1. A resume describing relevant professional and educational experience in areas ssuch as directing, creative drama, acting, voice, movement, technical theatre, theatre history, dramaturgy, playwriting, theatre management, and classroom teaching.

2. A one-page essay describing life/career goals and the role the applicant sees this degree playing in accomplishing these goals

3. Proof of completion of the graduate entrance writing requirement (click here for more info), or notify the graduate coordinator of how you will be fulfilling this requirement.


___5. You can check the Admission Status Page to monitor the progress of your application to the University. When your application has been sent to us for program review and we have received your three letters of recommendation and your one-page essay, we will be able to reach an admission decision. You will be informed of this decision by e-mail. If you do not hear from us within one month of our receipt of your completed application and supporting materials, including letters of recommendation, please contact us.


___6. Attention international students: There are additional documents required for international student applications. For information about these requiremments and forms, please see the CSUSB International Student Services "Application Assistance" website at https://iss.csusb.edu/en/admiss.asp.
