Admission
to the Program
We encourage you to apply as early as possible. There are two steps
to this process:
1. You must submit application and supporting materials to the program
(c/o the Graduate Program Coordinator), and
2. apply to the University as a graduate student (even if you are
currently a CSUSB undergraduate). The University application should
be completed
online.
Students must fulfill all the general requirements for admission
to graduate studies at CSUSB.
Applications for admission to the program should be sent to Graduate
Coordinator Michelle
Ebert Freire by May 30, 2008 (contact the department for information on next year's application schedule) and must include:
1. A resume describing relevant professional and educational experience in areas ssuch as directing, creative drama, acting, voice, movement, technical theatre, theatre history, dramaturgy, playwriting, theatre management, and classroom teaching.
Please note that if coursework on your transcript does not show documentation of significant theatre and/or theatre education courses, admission will be conditional pending completion of remedial courses. Specific courses needed will be determined by the graduate coordinator. Professional experience will be considered as an alternative to remediation.
2. Three letters of recommendation attesting to academic aptitude
and creative accomplishments, each accompanied by this
form (you may also request that your recommenders send
them directly to the graduate coordinator).

3. A one-page essay describing life/career goals and the role the
applicant sees this degree playing in accomplishing these goals
4. Completion of the graduate
entrance writing requirement.
